Solutions to the Malnutrition Crisis

Though it affects third world countries more others, the root causes of malnutrition can be related to poverty, unfair resource allocation to poor farmers, and transportation costs. These individual causes of this global issue have some solutions that could lessen or possibly solve these causes of malnutrition. In order to solve its malnutrition problem, India might examine the approaches other countries have undertaken which have been effective. .
The major way to prevent malnutrition is to first solve the poverty problem. In the poor areas of America and India, the children who experience malnutrition are often those who cannot afford a balanced meal. These affected children recover well after being given medical attention and essential nutrients. However, according to the Child Welfare League of America, "[The children are] discharged and returned to their original poverty-stricken environment where they quickly deteriorate and become as malnourished as before"" (CWLA). As these children grow older, they often have some sort of developmental problem that is directly related to malnutrition. These problems may include, death, contraction of diseases, or stunted growth. All these issues affect their ability to work as they get older, since they cannot handle the work capacity and intellectual performance of their healthy counterparts. .
Solving poverty, however, requires effective action from the government, along with the cooperation of the people. The most effective ways of reducing poverty includes government action to increase jobs, removing social barriers, and improving education for children. India is currently investing in renewable energy projects in order to create jobs along with providing clean energy for the country. The investment of $7.9 billion into this project will create many much needed jobs for the unskilled workers (Jaiswal). Though exact employment numbers have not been determined yet, giving the people this chance to lift themselves out of poverty will slowly alleviate the malnutrition problem.
