Documentary - The Startup Kids

The movie discusses these two very naive but ambitious entrepreneurs in their mid to late 20's who have a great idea but don't realize the risks that comes along with it. Kaleil Tuzman is jockey and charismatic while his nerdish, tech savvy partner, Tom Herman, have been friends since high school. The startup opens just before the year 2000 as the two men have a mad desire to get rich with this new millennium vision. They wanted to be the next big thing in the dotcom era so they strategized with their cell phones, pumping up the big crowds with group cheers trying to win the hearts of the people. They visit many different business offices filled with venture capitalists, raising big money. Their spot was around a Manhattan pizza parlor, where they would debate and bicker what the name of their new company would be like teenage kids. .
It didn't come easy but with much determination, and people that liked their style, Kaleil and Tom declared their intention to launch govWorks.com. This was a new website that had not been thought of yet and designed to link people up to local municipalities. Basically it was a new way of thinking for society to pay parking tickets and making it easier to navigate government red tape. The young men's fantasies of major success and big money appeared to be driving their business plan, instead of their business plan driving their fantasy success. Kaleil is a CEO with unlike CEO facial features who tries his bust to pose a top businessman. With all their flashy and advanced communications systems the cell phones and computer flow charts presentations, people had never seen before they began to believe in these two young men. .
Kaleil and Tom have all the right motives for success, and most importantly the invest dollars as well. However a failed trip to Silicon Valley puts them in a bind and later cost them in the big picture dreams. On their travels they have a visit from an Atlanta competitor as well as a big glitch in the website itself.
