In reading and comparing the two literary works of Genesis and the New Testament, Genesis represents the beginning of how the earth was created and laid the foundation of how God wanted the universe to operate. The New Testament represents where Jesus is incarnated. God reveals his promises through the birth and death of Jesus Christ. In the beginning, the world is dark, but the incarnation of Jesus brings the world full circle, bringing light to the world along with hope for redemption. In the beginning, Adam and Eve had broken the trust of God and sent mankind a curse that would later revealed as the shedding of Jesus' blood, would be the only way to redeem mankind. The book of Genesis starts with God first assuming he is the creator of the universal and mankind. In Genesis we see one of the first things that God establishes with humans made in his image is order. God creates man and then woman. The first male that God creates in his image is named Adam and he creates Eve the woman from Adam's ribs. As a direct result of Adam and Eve's disobedience they both were cursed. "And God created the human in his image, in the image of God he created him, the male and female, He created them" (Simon, 98). .
The reading it states that "the Lord God fashioned the human, humus soil, blew into his nostrils the breath of life" (Simon, 95). According to the reading it was God's original plan for mankind to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and conquer it (Simon, 95). But the doom of sin comes when the Serpent convinced Eve to eat from the tree that God forbidden her to eat from." God said you should not eat from the tree and you shall not touch it lest you die" (Simon, 99). But the she did not listen to God. She saw that the tree was for eating. She also gave to her man, Adam to eat. God tells them because you both have eaten from this tree, "cursed be you of Cattle and all beats of the field.
