Short Story - Once Upon A Promise

Mysticka stands alone as she stares at the clear blue sky, trying to figure out how she had gotten this far. All she could do was think about her troubled childhood, just searching for an answer as to why this happened to her. All she wanted to do was apologize and to promise her grandma for a change. Despite her disrespectful behavior and the neglect from her family, Mysticka decided to change her life because of her grandmother's love and selflessness. Everybody thought they knew how Mysticka would turn out when she grew up, but they did not understand what she went through. As a child she was handed down from person to person in their family to take care of her. Mysticka began to feel as though she was a burden upon her family and that no one truly loved her. No one knew of her struggles because of the thick mask she wore each day. Behind the smile she wore constantly was a lost soul which looked for someone to just care for and love her. After she went through her mother, father, aunts, and uncles, her grandmother decided to care for her but it was too late. Mysticka was fed up with looking for love, so she decided to keep her heart from being constantly broken with empty hopes and dreams. Her disrespect to her teachers, friends, and even her grandmother was on higher level of delinquency. For entertainment she would cause trouble for fun, or start drama between her family members. Attending family gatherings would break her heart even more just seeing all of the people who never gave her a chance. Mysticka would become so belligerent. She would break things, scream and cry because she was so hurt by the neglect. Nobody understood how hurt she truly was, and nobody was allowed to know her true feelings. Her grandmother became concerned about her granddaughter's actions and wanted a serious change from Mysticka before she regretted her choices.
Mysticka's grandmother, Clementine, was an elderly woman who loved and did anything for everyone.
