Fantasy Books, Movies and the Developing Teenage Mind

The trend of movies and television shows is rising. Lots of people, especially the young ones follow these movies and TV shows with great excitement and fervor. Most of these movies and TV shows that are successful are mainly fiction-based, from the zombie apocalypse, such as "The Walking Dead," to the highly-rated "The Vampire Diaries." Although, books, TV shows and movies alike create hope in the teenager to solve problems, it relaxes mind of a teenager and they accept the surrounding as they are; however, it also has some adverse effects on the youngster's mind: they make some characters their ideal and try to act like them, they fail to differentiate fiction from reality which in result makes them violent and at some point they think they have some weaknesses if they compare themselves to their beloved character. .
First of all the challenge that teenagers face is that they try to act, dress and completely imitate their ideal character. They want to acquire the qualities that their favorite character has, be it flying, or jumping from one building to another. Teenagers expect to become exactly like the media character they are obsessed with. To gain superficial traits like strength, teenagers go through drastic personality transformations such as working out, changing in lifestyle and various other habits. This could lead to disastrous results such as becoming mentally ill or becoming unconscious during or after the work out. Therefore health could be affected if there is no control in obsession to become like their ideal character.
Furthermore, there is a certain urge of feeling to have supernatural powers among the youth. They imagine that if they have such and such power they might change this and this thing in the real world. They forget the fact that the things they are imagining to have are the things that only happen in movies and TV shows but not in the real world. The outcome of this is that the teenagers are lost in day-dreaming and in their own thoughts of things that are not going to happen.
