Reflection Essay - Improving My Writing Skills

I am constantly trying to improve myself. I strive for better vocabulary, diction and sentence structure with each piece I craft. It takes precise skill and a mature writing style to create a truly exceptional piece of writing, the skill I desire to obtain. In review of the first grading period as an AP Language and Composition student, I would reward my efforts with the grade of B. When it comes to the process and time spent pondering the score I feel I have received, CEP's, ICE's and my Personal Narrative all come into play. In the dissection of each In Class Essay (ICE) I have written, I can see evident growth and retrogression. After reviewing the 2008 prompt (ICE #1) it wasn't challenging to spot the weaknesses in my writing, my structure and diction was lacking, along with the textual evidence needed to support a claim. In the 2006 prompt (ICE #2), though the score remained the same, the way in which I constructed my paragraphs and thesis had petite, but noticeable growth. By the time of ICE #3, I had a better understanding of the task at hand, and how to conquer it with advancements. In this essay I showed better diction and structure, though I only improved to 1 score higher, it was an achievement that I have proudly earned. In the aspiration of amplifying my abilities to higher scores and skill levels, I know I must work on expanding my vocabulary for that had become a regressing problem in each essay scored.
Political events can be adamantine to understand, unless you dissect the issue properly. Each Current Event Précis (CEP) takes deep, calculated diction, for every word must serve a purpose. Upon reflection of my first CEP, it is clear to me why this had been my best. I provided a conscientious commentary on the political issue at hand; I also include mature diction and structure. The subsequent précis' still adequately include proper analysis, however, in CEP #2 I observe my grammatical errors that appear more often than needed.
