The notion of transforming a novel into a film has been rampant today. Today, many films have been created from the ideas that adjacent the novel's. The problem is that the novel and the film will never portray messages at the same level. It is worth noting that visual images in the film will obviously stimulate the people's perceptions directly. However, the written words from the novel will only do this indirectly. Inevitably, it is important to understand that things will always change as the whole story changes from the novel perceptions to a film. The only thing that should be put into consideration here is that both the novel and the film will not carry the same impact. A novel can be a hit due to the flow of ideas in written words, and the film be boring due to awkwardness that pictures might bring forth. In short, the brunt both the readers and the viewers will not be the same. With that, this article will compare and contrast a film named the outsiders with its novel (Gusterson 53).
To give the audiences the exact scenarios in the novel, the novel brings ideas vividly to the reader's minds by touching every character; however, the film basically cuts some scenes. With that, a notion of reality has further been emphasized in the film outsiders than novel. For instance, the novel portrays a phenomenon of coming age while the film portrays the loss of character's innocence. This is two different themes; however, they are made to fit the media, just as expected. A person reading a novel will not feel sidelined from the person who is watching the film. The scene in the movie all carry the same message, the difference is the scenario location, which has so far proved perfect in transforming the entire story. Another difference is that the movie has proved able in following the story very closely. In this way, the audiences are made to get the real glimpse in all the scenes and the story at large.
