Creative Writing Diary - Heart of Darkness

I will be adopting the voice of Kurtz in the form of diary excerpts, lucidly revealing the transition and transformation from sane and civilized to mad and savagely. Kurtz' intended is a major symbol of sanity and also functions as his moral compass. After a prolonged period of time absent from his intended and the centre of morality and civilization (Brussels, Company Headquarters), the wildness inevitably consumes him and thus consumes his sanity resulting in madness due to primarily imperialism, and greed. His intended is also a major symbol in my essay because she justified his decision for lucrative enterprise and colonial growth, consequently when she is absent from him for this protracted period of time, he begins to question certain actions and decisions as he is overlooking what was intended.
             Day 1.
Irretrievable time will go by until I sojourn in the Congo with great plans for wealth, power and fame in obtaining a substantial amount of ivory, moreover the ability to civilize the uncouth natives. Hitherto, I had been hesitant to leave my civilised enclave and notably my dearest, delicate, pure fiancé. But, it was she who had enforced my resolution to advance; it was she who swayed me through notions of glory and gratitude that I would be rewarded as being the emissary of civilisation to the dark continent. It is my dearly beloved that never fails to elucidate my convictions; my moral centre to whom I am anchored. Howsoever am I to stabilize with absence of her presence? Yet she insists I will function with merely a photograph of her delicate face as an every glance will be an enriching aide memoire of my principles.
             Day 53.
I've fruitfully enslaved the natives, yet I was not accused nor stopped by the company. Inexplicably enough, I've been exalted solely for my ostensible endowed competence of collecting colossal quantities of ivory. After ruling through violence and oppression it has become perceptible to me that cruelty is my utmost prevailing weapon and my eloquence seems to overshadow my malicious brutality.
