Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Company (HSBC)

HSBC head office is located in the HSBC Tower in London's Canary Wharf. The HSBC group is named after its founding member, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, a bank  established by, a Scot, to finance British trade in the Far East in 1865. HSBC has some 110 million customers worldwide across its 5 Customer Groups. Its subsidiaries are The Hong kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Hang Seng  Bank  Limited, HSBC Bank plc, CCF S.A., Household International, Inc., HSBC  Bank  USA N.A., HSBC  Bank Brasil S.A. " Banco Multiple, HSBC  Private Banking  Holdings (Suisse) S.A., and Grupo Financiero HSBC, S.A. de C.V. Its assets as of June 30, 2004 is at US$1,154 billion ( £636 billion, HK$9,001 billion) and a Pre-tax profit of US$10,251 million ( £5,628 million, HK$79,825 million) for the first six months of 2004 excluding goodwill amortization. HSBC has about 10,000 offices worldwide with 232,000 employees in 76 countries and territories.
