             Russia has successfully held the 2014 Winter Olympics from 723 February 2014 in Sochi. Everybody's eyes are steady on the games. Athletes and visitor from around the world have the opportunity to enjoy the warm welcome of the Russian people. In this essay the evidences will use to show how Russia has successfully projected its soft power through the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.Frist, the definition of soft power will be presented. In John Nye's The Future of Power(2011) ,he identifies there are three broad categories of a country's soft power: "culture", "political values", and "policies" .
             Soft power come from the rich historical and cultural traditions. No matter which part of the world, people will care about the Olympics for Sochi Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies .              Sochi Winter Olympics had shown a new, multi-faceted and openness Russia. National media have noted that in the 33 medals Russia had got, there are 7 from new immigrants in Russia. 3 short track speed skating gold medalist - Viktor Ahn is a former South Korean star Ahn Hyun-Soo , snowboarding double winners Vic Wild renounced his US citizenship for love, the other new immigrant is from Ukraine. These 3 genius had just moved to Russia but already contributed 5 gold and 2 bronze medals.When Ahn Hyun-Soo was in ailments and injury-ridden , jobless, he went to Russia. The Russian president gave he a Russian citizenship in person, Russia also concerned about his health that they hired the best coaches and the best doctor to train and recover.
