He bought a big castle so Daisy would come back to him. He throws the biggest party in house but he never attends it hoping someday Daisy would come to the party. He is very passionate about Daisy and will do anything to win her back, even though she is married. As Nick describes him, he is a shy person. Daisy Buchanan, originally from a good family in Louisville, Kentucky, is a careless person as well as beautiful woman that everyone likes. Back in 1917, Daisy met Jay Gatsby for the first time. They had a passionate relationship until he left to fight in the war. Daisy promised to wait for him but soon after she married a wealthy guy, Tom Buchanan. On page 120, Gatsby says "Her voice is full of money". Daisy goes where she sees lots of wealth more than how people are. Gatsby is a rich guy but he is not in the upper class where else Tom Buchanan is. On page 9, Nick looks at Daisy and thinks that her face looks sad. She has all she wants in her life but she is still unhappy. Her best friend is Jordon Baker and a woman that Nick Carraway falls in love with. She plays Golf and she represents the new women of 1920's. She is a selfish and dishonest women because she cheated while playing golf in a tournament. Tom Buchanan is very wealthy guy who lives in East Egg. He is an arrogant and a bully person. He normally bullies people around him and does crazy things. He is also a cheater because he takes the character Myrtle to New York City in an apartment so Daisy would not know anything about it. Myrtle is very poor so she sticks with Tom out of town lying to her husband. .
Great Gatsby was set in 1922 summer in New York on two areas, East Egg and West Egg. East Egg is described as the wealthier place, then the West Egg. West Egg is also referred as new money. Gatsby lived in West Egg, and was very wealthy but nobody knows how he earned that much of the money but Tom Buchanan lives in East Egg and is very wealthy because he inherited from his father.
