Turning Point of the Mexican Revolution


            The first attempt to begin a Mexican Revolution started when Miguel Hidalgo and Jose Morelos, went against Spaniard officials who were governing Mexico. Both priests led attacks, Hidalgo and Mexican Indians went after plantation owners in northern Mexico. They were armed with tools and were motivated to get a new government and a place for worship. Morelos also led an attack on Spaniard plantations and towns. Morelos took over, when Hidalgo was defeated in 1811, the revolution until he was captured and killed in 1815 by the Spaniards.
             In the early 20th century Mexico experienced a violent political and social upheaval. It began in Nov. 1910 with a revolution that would change a great nation in an attempt to bring down President Porfirio Diaz, reign of 30 years of service. The separation of political, social and economic troubles had extended through the regions. President Diaz had assigned Alejandro Prieto, an engineer to help with the "construction of a railroad " (HTM 92), if this work they would have a much better chance for their economic system. But that was unsuccessful because of the weight issues. .
             Prieto was asked to participate in governmental elections. He became the governor of Tamaulipas. During his term he utilized the strategy to help "guide Mexicans through the great transformations " (HTM 92) which needed to progress. Prieto's father Don Ramon, had the opportunity to become an engineer, his projects in "sanitation and railroad development " (HTM 93) allowed him to involve himself with the Porfirian project which also included Prieto. .
             Porfirian Project was the attempt to modernize their country. Their people known as cientificos would help Mexico with "political and economic development " (HTM 92). This gave Diaz credit in the Southern regions for the economic growth. Once Prieto joined this society, he would represent the Mexican Government, it gave him the opportunity to work in different developmental projects.
