Dumb and Dumber - Movie Review

"According to the map, we've only gone four inches, " not only is this quote from the movie Dumb & Dumber (1994) funny but it makes the viewer want more. Take a moment and think about all the stupid choices you could possibly make in one day; when it comes to the end of the day you have a great story to tell your friends and family. So when we want to relate to something what better than to grab a comedy and some popcorn with some friends for a good laugh. Dumb & Dumber is a stupid movie, full of laughs, character, and love. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels give the best comedic performance of all time and there is no doubt that they are the best duo that have ever graced the big screen.
Dumb & Dumber grasps the viewers' attention due to its dimwitted duo, Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and their marvelous performance on the screen. The film begins with Lloyd, a chipped toothed, limousine driver falling in love with a women he is driving to the airport, Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly). As Lloyd watches her from a distance in a love haze as she wonders through the airport he sees that she left her briefcase in the terminal when she set it down causing him to crash his limo into another vehicle. Lloyd, unaware of the ransom money that the brief case contains for Marys' kidnapped husband Bobby (Brad Lockerman), retrieves it and attempts to return it to her but Lloyd runs through and falls out of the jet ways because her Aspen-bound plane has already departed. .
Not even a half an hour into the film and the writers Bennett Yellin and the Farrelly Brothers have a great start to a memorable plot. Having Lloyd fall in love with Mary so quickly and entering himself into a love chase allows the viewers' to get a feel for who he is. Not only is his love established quickly but his character is too. From the get go you can tell that Lloyd is going to be a hilarious character in the film whether it is from his chipped tooth or how he frantically climbs into the back of the limo asks a pedestrian, " Excuse me.
