Paul Lukas was covering a symposium about the use of Native American imagery in sports. There he spoke with the Saginaw Chippewa and spoke with their public relations director, Frank Cloutier. He was asked various questions about his feelings on the Native American mascots being used today. He talked about while he does have a problem with the word Redskin he stated that he embraced names like Braves and Indians as long as it is being used appropriately, with an opportunity to share their culture. Cloutier told Lukas that with these school mascots being Native American it could help educate the kids and he encouraged schools to teach them of their mascot. .
