Drug Abuse by the Teenagers by Venumadhava

psychologically, intellectually and socially. .
Firstly, several researchers have alluded to the fact that when teenagers start abusing drugs it affects their physical performance tremendously. According to Venumadhava (2013) teenagers who abuse alcohol and drugs often lack energy, they also complaint about their health over and over again, he further add that they tend to have an enduring cough and bloodshot eyes. Venumadhava is therefore acknowledging that there is some sort of physical deteoriation in teenagers who abuse drugs. Although, Malhotra and Biswas (2006) focus primarily on cannabis they also believe that when teenagers use drugs it affects their psychomotor performance, in other words, there is a slowing down of thought and a reduction of physical movements in an individual. They claim that one of the main consequences of grave marijuana use is a reduction in psychomotor performance therefore it is not recommended that someone who is dazed due to the use of marijuana be allowed to operate complex or dangerous machines. This reveals that when teenagers abuse drugs, their ability to perform physically is impaired.
Secondly, teenagers who abuse drugs are also affected psychologically; drugs themselves have a tremendous impact on an organism and psychological condition of the brain. Venumadhava (2013) has attested to this fact as he revealed in his article that teenagers who abuse alcohol and drugs often display traits such as; an unexplained change in personality, also their mood would change suddenly, they would become irritable and display improper judgement and on a whole they are not motivated; they often appear lethargic or spaced-out. On the other hand, Malhotra and Biswas (2006), communicate that significant psychological effects of persistent use of cannabis in adolescents is still indecisive. They echoed that this issue is scourged by incoherent reports and the method of research is faced with various problems.
