The Enviroment and Global Climate Change

The most pressing ecological issue of our time, in my opinion is the global climate change. Climate change is defined as the statistical distribution of weather patterns that last for an extended period of time. Climate change is most drastically influenced by greenhouse gases which are a direct affect of human activity. The phenomenon of global warming is caused by the emission of these green house gases such as methane and carbon dioxide. The climate changes because of the environments response to these toxins and in the past century the reasons are very likely due to human activities. In order to fully understand climate change, one must look at the evidence of climate changes occurrence, the causes and effects, and the possible solutions to stop this monstrosity from destroying our planet. .
There are many striking evident reactions to the global climate change. Many of them lead to another, some of the evidence includes: sea level rise, global temperature rise, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, declining arctic sea, glacial retreats, extreme events, ocean acidification, decreased snow cover, etc. From the list given, many of these are a reaction to the warming of the planet which is because of the increased level of heat-trapping carbon dioxide. For 650,000 years the carbon dioxide level has never been over 300 million; but from 1950 to 2014, there has been an increase of 100 million. This is extremely concerning because of the ability of carbon to trap infrared which infact warms the planet. Some facts about the evidence are: Sea level has rose 6.7 inches in the last century which is double of the last century, the temperature of the earth has been rising since 1880 and the warmest years have been in the last 12 years, the top 700 meters of the oceans have warmed .302 degrees since 1969,etc.
The most apparent cause of the global climate change is because of greenhouse gases or the "green house effect".
