             To account for any bias in these studies it would be smart to setup a comparison to that of the Alcohol industry; like bars and nightclubs. One such area that could provide a good focus area is Englewood in Denver, Colorado (see contextual map)2. They have a progressive model for the sale of marijuana that has allowed many dispensaries to open and flourish. Since the opening in 2013 there have been several Federal raids on stores, many in Englewood, which may have possible links to organized crime organizations (Paul 2014)3. This means not just from drug cartels but the customers and clients of the shops as well. Considering this it would be wise as planners or designers to know just how dangerous and unsafe these dispensaries are to the residents. With this research there could be designs or plans accommodating and elevating some of the symptoms. Currently there is only preliminary qualitative data for the relationship between marijuana dispensaries and safety due to crime. It has been hypothesized that 'medical' dispensaries would be associated with higher crime rates due to Routine activity theory. According to this theory, increasing the availability in these locations (neighborhoods) there is a degradation on the ecological impacts from the dispensaries due to opportunistic crime (Yu-Wei Chu, 2012)4. Which is interesting but how do recreational dispensaries hold up to the same theory, which should be noted is only a theory and not substantial proof that dispensaries cause negative ecological impacts. Therefore we will want to perform a local cross-sectional survey, interview of the current feelings and attitudes towards dispensaries as well as an analytical qualitative data collection to provide a basis for any future concerns. .
             For a better qualitative analysis of the perceptions that marijuana dispensaries produce on the local residents surrounding them it would be best to perform a two part cross-sectional survey.
