College, Alcohol and Freshman

College, for any first year freshman, is a whole new start facing a variety of new challenges. Some of those include; managing their time, living on their own, balancing money, and making new friends. A major issue that a significant amount of freshman are having is to cope with alcohol. With students getting used to the taste of freedom, the choice whether or not to have alcohol becomes an internal conflict. Along with being independent, new freshman are being pressured into drinking alcohol to not be singled out, or make new friends. College is a time where students are not only shaping their future, but also having fun simultaneously. First time freshman need to realize that there are other options in having fun that do not have mental and academic consequences. .
How would I structure exactly the statistics of how many incoming freshman drink, the amount affected, etc. without the information collected all being all plagiarized. I am unsure how to write statistics in particular in my own words exactly. Although the use of alcohol does not begin in college, it is increased significantly more compared to in high school. When a student starts college, the interaction with their peers, as well as new normality's about alcohol use, begin to intertwine. Students are looking for new friends who will provides support and intimacy, and they are working to develop their identity as a college student (Bosari & Carey, 2001). For example, I have seen in many different cases where an individual who opts not to consume alcohol is left behind and considered a "loser" or "straight-edged." Instead of being left out of what is considered "fun" and lose the chance of gaining friends, freshman often fall victim and become precarious with underage drinking.
College movies try to portray that college is a place for pledging sororities and fraternities, trying illegal substances, partying every day and going to class when the desire sparks.
