Inattentive symptoms are more behavioral symptoms, however, hyperactivity and impulsivity are more physical indicators. The second category is Hyperactivity and Impulsivity. Since it is a physical trait, there are less symptoms to it than the inattention category. The patient can never stay put (ex: fidgety in seat or cannot sit still in class), has trouble with relaxed activities, is a natural blabber mouth, and is also very impatient. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p.60) Hyperactivity or inattentive indicators generally show before the age of twelve. Two or more symptoms may show and will put restrictions on academics and attention span. People may mistake the indication of ADHD to schizophrenia. Nevertheless, the symptoms do not occur as often in schizophrenia or any other psychotic disorder, like, mood disorder, anxiety, dissociative disorder etc. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p.60-61).
Did you know, that 5% of kids and 2.5% of adults in any society may have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder? (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p.61) It is also said that 80% of ADHD is genetic. (Fisher, Hawkridge, 2013, p.136) There is also a myth that states, ADHD only occurs in males, although that myth is false, ADD/ADHD occur more in males than in females (Saecker et al, 2010, p.970), it is a ratio of 2:1 in children and 1:6 in adults (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p.63). 50% to 80% of the times ADHD will continue into a patients adolescence and adulthood. (Saecker et al, 2010, p.971).
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, can be developed through many reasons. Which are: temperamental, environmental, genetic and physiological and also the course modifiers. Temperamental is when some children show the sign of influencing traits of controversial, and negative emotions. Depending on the type of environment one lives, will help to the contribution of obtaining ADHD.
