Short Story - The Darkness

Dom was a sad teenager for the most part. He didn't seem to fit in; he wasn't the most athletic or good-looking kid. But he was quite the intellect; of course this didnt matter to anyone else in his classic American high school with all the cliques and jocks. The thoughts didnt start until about a week ago, the dark and grimy thoughts. They sent a cool rush down his spine whenever they surfaced. Seemingly never ending vicious thoughts plagued his mind 24/7. .
His day started at 6 in the morning. He got up, washed his face, brushed his teeth and got dressed. He lived a very monotone life. Except what would happen in the following hour would change his life and town forever. He left his house like he always did and walked to the bus stop. He saw across the street a rather handsome boy in his class with a beautiful blonde girl. Except this wasnt just any girl, this was Candice. A girl he adored since the 3rd grade, in fact she was the only reason he was still alive, after all he had contemplated suicide before. But every time he thought of her he felt serenity. He thought she was single and this kept him sane. The next 10 seconds would live in infamy. The boy gave her a kiss on the lips while groping her. This show of Affection not only tainted Doms soul but his whole well-being was affected by a dark slime. .
Dom didnt go to school that day, or the week. He just sat in his room, alone and stared at the wall, re thinking his purpose. His mother, a single mom with 2 jobs seemed to have gave up on her troubled son. This would haunt her later on. Dom began to practice self harm whenever Candice came to mind. It started with little cuts on his wrists to deep gashes on his thighs. He began to search the web for dark blogs that he could vent on. He even tried to become closer to god. Nothing seemed to stop this darkness that seemed to creep on him day by day. Its been 3 weeks now since he last went to school.
