Background and Future of Recycling

As a society we humans have gone away from our true beings as nature. Humans have evolved to becoming the superior species. Humans have enclosed ourselves out of where we truly are a part of and made our own little world pretending that we dont live with the trees and animals. When in fact we do. Humans have gone from using what nature provides them to creating new organic objects to help them survive thinking that they dont need to rely on nature. Some humans are now realizing that we cant survive without nature and we need to respect and take care of it. One of the main concerns is recycling. Recycling can be very beneficial to society and the environment, but the actions that the society takes are what is going to make the change. .
             Background.
Recycling is the process of reusing or transforming used materials into something new instead of throwing it in the trash (Reno & Alexander 2012). Nature offers a cheap service to humans, it breaks down organic matter such as our wasted food and replenishes the nutrients from the waste and puts it back into the soil so more plants can grow and thrive (Rossi & Gallo 2009). There are many things that can be recycled or reused and by practicing this it can reduce the amount of plastic in landfills and the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. .
Plastic first made its debut in the 1940s as it quickly took over the economic world (Manrich & Santos 2009). It was efficient and cheap; it allowed things to become one time use (Manrich & Santos 2009). The production of plastic has significantly increased over the past 60 years (Hopewell et al 2009). Around 4 percent of the worlds oil is used to make plastic, which is a nonrenewable resource (Hopewell et al 2009). With every positive there is a consequence, plastic isnt biodegradable and cant be broken down by nature so the space it took up filled landfills up quickly (Manrich & Santos 2009).
