Science Lab - Plant and Animal Cells

Another difference is that animal cells do not have chloroplast. Chloroplast is used in plant cells to photosynthesize sunlight into food. Animals do not use photosynthesis to obtain food. The last difference is that animal cells have centrioles to organize cell division. The purpose of this lab is to compare different types of cells, notice their unique features, and relate cell structure to its function.

             One difference between plant and animal cells is animal cells do not have chloroplasts but plant cells do. This is because animals do not use photosynthesis to create their own food. Another difference is plants have cell walls but animals do not. Plant cells use cell walls for the extra support and protection they need so they can be self-supporting while it grows upright. Animal cells are soft and flexible and are supported by the exoskeleton and endoskeleton for protection and support. Another difference is that animal cells are round and irregular in shape while plant cells have fixed, rectangular shapes. this is because the cell wall is very ridge and needs to have a defined shape to support and protect it while it grows. Animal cells are irregular and rounded because they need to be flexible for the animal to move around freely unlike plants who need to stay straight and .
