The Mental Aspect of Basbeall

Does this continuative research aide the players or is the mental training focused solely on the individual himself? With that in mind, every player must learn to have an iron will and never get too high or too low, as the game of baseball will always give a chance at redemption (Doyle, n.d.). Baseball is one of the only sports that requires just as much mental training as physical training in order to be successful. The mental training is seen through the automatic brain, the self-confidence, and the mental toughness in every player. To begin with, baseball players, through all their training and drills have developed an automatic brain, or an unconscious part of the mind. Baseball players, especially major leaguers, do the same drills they have been taught since they were ten years old. This is done in order to develop a reaction to a certain circumstance rather than thinking about what to do, which takes up time. This reaction comes unconsciously because it has been repetitively reinforced throughout a players career over a thousand times which leads to a reaction, hence the automatic brain. As Brooks (2007) states, Jeff Kent, a 39 year old second baseman who has been playing professionally for 17 years, covers first in spring fielding practice on a bunted ball. Kent has probably been doing this particular drill since he was ten years old because little leaguers practically do the same dills as major leaguers displaying that the institution of baseball understands how to make the most of the human brain. Brooks, D. (2007, March 17). .
The conscious thought in baseball is a beneficial factor before and after games as it helps players learn from certain mistakes and how to prepare a player for an upcoming opponent; however baseball players have also developed certain tactics to keep the conscious mind from interfering with automatic mind. The conscious mind can affect the entire mindset of a player thus impacting his performance negatively the rest of the game.
