Every smartphone in the whole world needs an operating system to run it. An operating system is software that runs and administers the computer and all of its hardware and software. There are many types of operating systems, but the most common are iOS, Android, and Windows Phone OS. Currently, iOS is the most popular mobile operating system around the world. iOS means iPhone operating system, which was developed by Apple Inc. It runs different types of Apple devices. Such as, iPhone, iPad, and iPod. Also, Apple releases updates for the system periodically. The updates have lots of improvements and correction of different bugs (software errors). iOS has built up new attractive ways to entice consumers. There are, small touch screen, and quick response, tap, swipe, and hold to control the screen. Also, there are other features like shaking and rotating the orientation of the device (Okediran et al.). iOS is not related to Mac OS X. There are two different operating systems. iOS is a secure closed system. There are no worries about your files and your information as long as you didn't Jailbreak (hack) your device. Jailbreaking makes your device easy to access by dangerous viruses.
As can be seen, iOS is the most known operating system, but it's not the only one. The top two mobile OS is Android, which was developed by Google in November 2007. It is an open system. You can add to your device programs and tools to enhance your device. It comes with the Bluetooth feature that allows you to share your files with any Android or any device that has Bluetooth. Also its devices come with touch screens that allow you to mange your phone easily. Android gives the ability to run applications which change the default launcher and hence the appearance and externally visible behavior of Android.
