With every new freshman class entering, parking pose a problem on campus. Us students try to make a change, but sometimes we can be looked down upon. It can be because of our age, experience, or they just don't care. There are many problems here on Indiana State University campus that could be resolved and need to be resolved. Some are in the process of being fixed but one major issue at ISU is the parking. I don't even drive, but j by watching and hearing stories from students and from staff, I can see this is a major issue that needs to be resolved soon as possible. There isn't no excuse to not try to fix the parking because there are many solutions for this problem, including making more parking lots, sell as many parking tickets as there are parking spaces, and having designated parking lots each building.
The first solution that comes to mind that can help the parking is to make more parking lots. Parking by the dorms is nearly impossible. Students sometimes have to park across streets or somewhere further from their dorm, which causes them to walk far. Visitors are also taking up our parking spaces, which causes students to park in the faculty parking lots, which causes them to get a ticket. Making a visitors parking lot would help as well, too. If they made one visitor's parking lot for each residence hall that could help, instead of having Visitors Park in the student lot and buy a parking pass for that weekend. I'm sure the school has a budget and is limited to funding certain projects, so they can do only so much. The student body should help and take some responsibilities for raising the funds to make additional parking on campus, since mainly the students are the ones struggling with finding parking spaces. There are alumni who are probably willing to give to improve this campus, but we have to reach out and let be known that we need help and want to resolve this issue.
From hearing other students complain about the situation, it seems that the main problem that is causing parking to be such a hassle is because public safety sells more parking passes than parking spaces.
