            Privacy is very important to a lot of people because sometimes what a person might do behind closed doors is not meant for everyone to know or see. When one is in public, do they still have the right to privacy? No matter where anyone might be they still have a certain expectation such as using the restroom. It would be kind of bizarre if someone was just watching other people handle their business. The way the restroom is designed can help people use the restroom in peace. The bathrooms visited and documented for this project does reinforce the social and cultural norms with respect to gender and sex because of the gender neutral stalls around Colby-Sawyer and the stalls that are in the bathroom. .

Gender neutral bathrooms are supposed to make everyone comfortable especially those who classify themselves as the opposite of what they were born as. Sometimes their safety can be jeopardized in a specific female/male bathroom. "Review: Doing Gender Diversity: Readings in Theory and Real World Experiences," by Patti Giuffre, states "Gender-neutral bathrooms-typically single-stall, lockable restrooms available to people of all genders-provide a safe facility for transgender people." Gender neutral bathrooms give comfort and endurance to transgender. They can be able to use the restroom in peace without else trying to violate them. These types of restrooms provide privacy also. Giuffre also mentions "Persons who are not easily legible as male or female often experience various forms of intimidation in these places." The gender neutral helps them stay away from that. No transgender would have to worry about any chaotic situation that could easily be avoided. It provides social and cultural norms. .
