Wealth and Success in The Great Gatsby

The overall image of these fancy parties attracted many people all around since it was thrown from the most well known man in the East Egg. Of course, Jay Gatsby threw these magnificent parties to attract Daisy after spending years not seeing her. He knew that Daisy is overwhelmed by the sight of these parties which was true since Daisy was a natural born partier. She loved grand fiestas as "these things excite me" which would attract her to Gatsby's home. (Fitzgerald 112). Not only was Gatsby's parties so attractive but his manners and hospitality toward his guests kept the crowd excited in his mansion. During the party that Nick was invited to, Nick Carraway had the chance to meet with Gatsby while he was with Jordan Baker. Meeting with Gatsby, Nick mentions his politeness and his charm, something that Nick finds rare especially in the upper class where things seemed so vague. Gatsby's positive qualities seemed to attract Nick into wanting to spend time with him. His appearance influenced how many people thought of him as they thought he was a man of his time, a man with good manners and good judgment. Gatsby's lifestyle and his possessions made the East Egg seem superior than those who were living in the West Egg. It made life in the West seem more drab and tedious since parties at the Gatsby mansion was more ordinary than it would have in the West Egg. This makes the parties at the Gatsby mansion even more infamous as all parts of New York had heard about this grand party. The comparison between the East and West are so distinguishable that the lower classes compared to the upper classes seem poor, unrealistic, and disgusting. .
             Jay Gatsby's life, wealth, and enthusiasm may have seemed positive but looking deeper into his life was a darker and more insecure man than what his appearance spoke. For one thing, Gatsby was still living in his dream world of pursuing Daisy and her love.
