The Impact or Martin Luther King Jr.

             had a large impact on modern American history. He spoke of non-violent ways to create a society of equality that stirred in many people's hearts. He fought with his words and beliefs, not with violence. He reached many people in his speeches and even got to speak to thousands of people at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., where he spoke these words that changed the way people looked at segregation: "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed." The first four words of this marvelous speech are the most repeated and the most known words in a quote of all time. Whenever someone is asked about Martin Luther King Jr. they would most certainly think of these famous four words. He truly believed that all men are created equal and this was what united people to him, but his life was short-lived. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. He only got to preach to the people of America for a very short period of time. Martin Luther King Jr. was an inspiring man, to all cultures of the world. Martin Luther King Jr. was and still is one of the most influential heroes. His views and beliefs, were similar to the non-violent ideas of Mahatma Gandhi, who was also an inspirational person. Martin Luther King Jr. helped all the African American communities through 1950-1960. Martin Luther King Jr. faced many obstacles on his quest for peace and justice, he had to go to jail numerous times and even assassination attempts. Despite these burdensome obstacles, he became a very successful leader during the Civil RIghts Movement.
             When Martin Luther King Jr. made his speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial, his extraordinary words changed several people's perspectives. After the day that Martin Luther King Jr. presented his fascinating speech the people of America began to see that we are not all that different, aside from our beliefs and religions, we all are hard working human beings, trying to go through each day of our lives.
