Sitting on the cozy sofa, having a cup of hot chocolate, writing up a blog.I haven't had such a nice afternoon since. a very long time. My daughter went to our neighbors' birthday party while my husband, Torvald, as usual is on a business trip. Sorry for not posting a blog lately. It is my little daughter Emmy that always kept me occupied. Indeed, the stress is also work related. Torvald and I work in the same bank, but of course, he is the manger and I am at a position of much less importance. He works very hard, staying up really late and I guess his position as manager is evidence of effort well spent. However, this means that everything related to the girls is left to me. He never asks about their activities and doesn't show that he cares about their daily lives, let alone my feelings. There's no question that the girls are the most important. I've hired a nanny to care for Emmy when we're away, but I'm worried that we're not fulfilling our role as parents and that we're too preoccupied with our careers. I'm completely lost as to what I should do and I'm hoping someone here can offer me advice.
I went back to work last month after my maternity leave. I underestimated how big an impact raising a child would have on my life. It was clearly wishful thinking, but I believed I could balance the two lifestyles without much compromise. I was obviously very naive. I wake up at 5:30 every morning to prepare breakfast and handle household chores. The nanny arrives before I leave for work at 7:30. I'm usually the first one home and I handle dinner and work. Torvald helps coax the children to sleep if he returns before 9 PM. In all honesty, I feel as if our marriage doesn't exist. Whenever I need to ask Torvald for help, he's busy discussing business on the phone or on a trip. Whenever I confront him at the dinner table or before we sleep, his only response is "I'm sorry sweetheart, I'm very tired.
