Creation

             Creation.
Creation in its essence is an imperative occurrence that takes place within the core of a being whether it may be mortal or otherwise. Many believe God created man and in other countries by one who has God-like qualities. In Nikki Giovanni's poem, Ego Tripping: there may be a reason why, she expresses creation as a form of perfection, religion, and life. .
Giovanni embodies perfection in every character and occurrence in her poem to express creation. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder as perfection is a vision of what oneself and surrounding could be. "The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid across three continents"(line45-46). Here she gives a vivid description, turning nothing into something, which produces an image of her perfection. Even in Giovanni's imperfectious moments she creates, justifying that her errors are correct. "On a trip north I caught a cold and blew my nose giving oil to the arab world"(line39-41). Throughout Ego Tripping, Giovanni describes herself being hip, flawless, and at times she sounds a little conceded, "the filings from my fingernails are semi-precious jewels"(line 37-38). Perfection is a key element that Nikki has skillfully placed in her poem, "I designed a pyramid so tough that a star that only glows every one hundred years falls into the center giving divine perfect light"(line4-6). Giovanni expresses creation by emboding perfection from her surroundings and the occurences in her poem. .
Creation of all things can be based on religion. The narrator exudes confidence of one who stands as one with God and not beside him. "I turned myself into myself and was jesus men intone my loving name All praises All praises I am the one who would save"(line30-34). Giovanni's superiority is widely expressed throughout the poem, as she tends not to capitalize names and places that hold significance including that of Jesus.
