Sexual Attraction is the physical attraction between one (yes one) or more persons regardless of gender for the purpose of carnal pleasure. Whether or not sexual activity takes place or physical contact occurs the attraction still can exist, this can cause tension to occur within one person or a group. These tensions generate the possibility for overt and covert conflict to arise within a group. This conflict can be constructive or destructive form of communication resulting in a win-win, win-lose, or lose-lose scenario depending on the frame of reference. In the movie, we see Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) as aware of this attraction and using as an ends to a means. An example is the opening scenes of the movie where she exploits the other characters sexual attraction to different degrees to bring three men together to form a crew for a diamond heist. In this scene enters with her arm wrapped around Otto (Kevin Kline) then shows Ken (Michael Palin) subtle affection and when Georges (Tom Georgeson) enters the scene she shares an intimate kiss with him.
Orientations of Conflict are how we approach conflict situations. There are three basic orientations that can be used to approach conflict situations. Each approach has its own way of shaping patterns of communication during conflict; the challenge is to use the most constructive approach for the situation. In a Lose-Lose Orientation, it is assumed the conflict results in losses for all involved. In the Win-Lose Orientation, we assume that one person wins at the cost of the other. The Win-Win Orientation makes the assumption that there is a resolution to the conflict where all involved have a positive outcome. The best place to draw an example of these games is in the culmination of the movie where everything falls into place, but we will get to that as we discuss Responses to Conflict.
