Nobel Prize Winner Elie Wiesel

The Peace Prize given to Elie Wiesel in 1986 was not only deserving for his influential words written and spoken about the Holocaust, but also for his determination to promote peace around the world for every human being. The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Elie Wiesel the well-deserved prize, and according to the Nobel Prize website, "It is the Committee's opinion that Elie Wiesel has emerged as one of the most important spiritual leaders and guides in an age when violence, repression and racism continue to characterize the world" (Nobel Prize). Elie Wiesel's inspiring and influential words has given many people valuable information when it comes to the Holocaust, and by discussing what he went through, his courage is something that one can always see as incredible.
I would not say that I have a personal connection with Wiesel, but I choose him to be the person for my research paper for the theories and beliefs that he has when it comes to society today. Not only does he want the world to remember and learn from the terrible events that occurred in the Holocaust, but also he is constantly trying to insure that events like that never happen in the world again. By writing about his experiences where people other then adults understand show why he has been so influential, because its from his writings that so many young adults know more about the Holocaust rather then just reading it in a history book. Why I believe in his theory is because there is so much hatred and bad attitudes in the world today when it comes to indifferences of religion, race, sexuality, and political issues. What Elie Wiesel is really trying to do is promote peace and show that we all have to live with the fact that we all have different beliefs and should not hurt one another for it. By young adults gaining such insight, not just about the Holocaust, but realizing hatred and bad attitudes towards others who are different from us is wrong, he is once again seen as a strong leader and guide.
