This is where he met with his later revolutionary friends including Leni, Plekhanov, and Martov. He assumed the identity of a man named Trotsky who was one of the colleagues of his in the Siberian jail he was being held in. He also befriended the editors of the Iskar which is a magazine of theirs where he wrote as an author. In the end, he became a renowned writer and the best in that newspaper.
General causes of the Russian Revolution.
Poverty .
In order to understand Trotsky's role in the Russian revolution in the year 1917, perhaps an insight into the causes of the Russian revolution would shed light upon some of the reasons as to why he was a major player in the fight. Russia was among the major empires that existed back then in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with its reach in Poland and a population of over 165 million. Despite this fact, the Russian empire was the home of mainly peasants who were farmers even though it is believed that the lives of the Russians was improved in the year 1861 from which they were serfs, implying that they were owned and traded like goods by their owners. Poverty that the Russians experienced then was a long-term cause of the Russian revolution with the families within the empire existing at the mere level of subsistence (Westwood, 2002).
Industrial Revolution.
The industrial revolution swept through the Russian empire in the late 19th century where the country developed and implemented iron works and factories, including all the elements that the industrial society does exhibit today. Even so, the industrial revolution did not come in uniformly and neither did it move swiftly compared to the other countries like the Britain and this forced the peasants to migrate into the rapidly developing towns and cities in order to seek employment. This led to the packing of the urban centers with large populations and so the wages as well as the living space was really limited in cities and towns and so the rights dissipated at their workplaces.
