The Components of Oceanography

There is more to the ocean than what meets the eye. Oceanography is composed of three different fields of study; physical, chemical, and biological. These three categories construct all aspects of the ocean. Without these different types of oceanographers, there wouldn't be enough properly educated workers involved in ocean construction. All three fields help ocean engineers find safer and more environmentally friendly ways to construct operations involving the ocean.
Physical oceanography emphasizes an understanding of all the different types of liquid circulation contained in the ocean. Physical oceanographers use this science to help them distinguish the different aspects of the ocean including the seafloor, atmosphere, weather, and change in climate. There are many different characteristics in the ocean that physical oceanographers investigate to gain further details. Some of those characteristics include; salinity, density, temperature of air, wind speed, tides, underwater construction, and thermal energy. Knowing what would happen during a project involving the bottom of the ocean when thermal energy is released could help save lives. If an engineer is drilling into the seafloor and the floor happens to shift and cause a tsunami, a physical oceanographers would be able to assist in this situation. They would know how to proceed in the correct way in attempting to avoid the tsunami.
Chemical oceanography holds the information of chemistry comprised throughout the ocean. It shows the behavior of what chemical elements do in the ocean. Chemical oceanography can help serve ocean engineers by distinguishing whether or not involving chemicals would be harmful to the ocean and the wildlife living in it. Oil and gas contained in the seafloor is a big factor from which we acquire a large portion of our oil. There are many things that can go wrong when using machines to obtain oil and gas.
