This is a heavy let down upon Hong Kong's sports playing field because people aren't influenced nor are brought up to follow an active passion that they could have experienced. The number talented athletes that are brought up into successful sports players isn't ideal when in reality there are people who have a talent on kinetic intelligence and we should respect and make use of such people into good, or they could be wasting their lives. Hence the government should focus more on first supporting athletes. Moreover, this is main reason why people here find it bizarre to look upon such athletes in a successful point of view and the cause are generally based on extrinsic factors. Economics is perhaps one of the main reason why parents are against their children on focusing upon sports playing as an ultimate goal. Parents would rather see their kids revising for school and getting high marks in their exams than seeing them playing sports outside where they belong and having fun, thus on a health basis it isn't easy for children raised in such cultural backgrounds to refute, act and grow against their parent's desires. However what many people miss to see is that as human beings potential for different sorts of intelligence and success, and being a good sports player also a type of intelligence where we could entertain other people in addition to motivating and inspiring others for a better change in life. It is also scientifically proven that exercising creates endorphins in our bodies which helps us relieve stress and creates happy emotions that may help prevent depression. .
The solution to such difficulties depends on us, whether dare to chose a different path amongst society. Semi-professional athletes, those who participate in games such as the Asian Games or the Olympics has the potential develop towards professional level. The approach would be to rather be merely fighting on a national level, by themselves we could find a manager to promote and sponsor us into occasional international games where we could express and excel their talent for bigger amounts of money.
