The Heroic Cesar Chavez

In the wide expanse of our world, heroes can be found in every corner of society. Whether they are people who risk their lives fighting for our country or patients persevering in their fight against disease or cancer, they never cease to inspire us through their efforts and fighting spirit. In our constantly changing society, the values and traits that every hero possesses vary between each person. However some traits, no matter who you look at, have always remained constant, setting our criteria of who a hero really is. Heroism is defined through the actions of an individual. In the face of adversity, they are the ones who take initiative and overcome overwhelming obstacles that stand in their way. They are guided by a strong moral conscience to do what is right, and serve as a role model or ideal for those around them. When faced with challenges, these brave individuals hold strong to their own beliefs and ideals, working tirelessly to overcome and make those ideals a reality. They turn their feelings into actions, assisting others and putting them first. In the end, a hero is one who perseveres to overcome difficulties and strives to better the world for those around them. .
Sometimes, the greatest heroes can be found in our everyday society. Cesar Estrada Chavez was perhaps one of the most influential Mexican-Americans of our time. Born on March 31, 1927 into a poor family of farm workers, Cesar was unable to receive an adequate education. He spent his childhood and teenage years working in the fields to support his family. Everyday Chavez witnessed suffering and poverty within the agricultural society. Farm workers toiled tirelessly all day just to make enough money to put some food on the table. They were often cheated and without money, starved. Treated like work animals, ensnared in the depths of destitution with no way out, everyday was a constant struggle. Chavez was determined to change all of this.
