I remember watching one of my favorite movies, "Goodfellas," and being charmed by one particular scene. Henry was taking Karen on their first actual date, and he took her through the back of the Copacabana, through the kitchen, then to the lobby, and finally to the table where they sat. What intrigued me so much about that scene was that it all had been shot entirely at once. At the time, I had never seen anything like that, and for some reason it amazed and touched me on such a primal level that I felt goosebumps all over my body. Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg and many more amazing directors have all used their superb skills to bring life to some of our nation's greatest movies. My dream as an aspiring director/producer is to evoke the same emotions that Mr. Scorsese brought out of me. I want to change lives, make people think, make them laugh, make them cry, make them wonder, and make them imagine. There is no doubt in my mind that SCAD will help me attain all of the skills that I will need to make that dream a reality.
Since ninth grade, SCAD has been on my radar. My art teacher at Tuscaloosa County High School, Mrs. Rozyskie, always told me that I had the potential to make it in a creative career. Early on when I took my first art class in high school, Mrs. Rozyskie told me that I should look at enrolling into the Savannah College of Art and Design. That was my first time ever hearing about SCAD. After hearing her talk about the school, she enticed me multiple times to look into SCAD. So at the age of 14, I subscribed to SCAD e-mails. I recall the day I came home from school and saw my first SCAD catalog in the mailbox. I remember staying up all night rereading it and dreaming about one day attending a school with people who had the same hunger and passion for the arts as I did. .
As a means to be able to pay the tuition to attend SCAD, I decided to join the military after high school.
