The Matrix and Lucid Dreaming

Zion is located in the real world while a virtual reality world simulated by the Matrix resembles human civilization around the turn of the 20th century. In this virtual world, life continues normally but little do the humans living there realize their life if a lie. Just how in a dream we believe that everything is real but in reality it is not, those living within the matrix experience the same sensation. .
Much like the Matrix, a lucid dream is any dream in which one is aware that they are dreaming. Webster's definition of lucidity continues with "clearness of thought or style" and a "presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously". In this sense, lucid dreaming is associated with controlling one's dreams as they are happening. The term lucid may be a bit misleading. In the literal sense, true control is never actually achieved but the dreamer can influence the course of action one takes within the dream. Lucidity usually begins in the midst of a dream, when the dreamer realizes that the experience is not occurring in physical reality. Sometimes people become lucid without noticing, thus varying the quality of lucidity. When lucidity is at a high level, one is aware that everything experienced in the dream is occurring in their mind, that there is no eminent danger in anything they do. When lucidity is at a low level one may be aware to a certain extent that they are dreaming, perhaps enough to do an action that would be impossible in normal life, but not enough to realize that they could be hurt. Realizing a person is dreaming may not seem all that special, but becoming aware that they are dreaming can allow them to become the master of their dreams. Once they are aware they are dreaming, they would be able to alter their dreams to experience whatever they please.
Some theories of how to become lucid within ones dream is to increase their dream intensity and dream recall by writing in a dream journal and trying to remember what they just dreamed about.
