As a species, should we continue to progress in the study of Transhumanism? Yes, Transhumanism is the inevitable faith of mankind to be transformed, through the aid of advances in modern technology, to not only enhance the human's physical, intellectual, and psychological capabilities, but also to achieve biological immortality. Transhumanism is our destiny, that we should embrace as it will introduce marvelous things into our world such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, and abolitionism, which decorated scientists such as Raymond Kurzweil and Vernor Vinge have spend decades researching.
Nanotechnology used to be nothing more than the element of science fiction movies, but now it is becoming all the more real thanks to developments in the field of Transhumanism. Nanotechnology is a branch of technology where one rearranges matter at an atomic and/or molecular level for an array of purposes such as medicine, electronics and energy production. With nanotechnology at our disposal we could make the blind see, the cripple walk, and the comatose wake up. This has also proven to be the main motivation of renowned scientist Raymond Kurzweil, as his studies in Transhumanism is fueled by his desire to bring back his father from the dead. Kurzweil states "Transhumanism is the next step in human evolution due to the fact technology will eventually achieve singularity and self consciousness, so if we refuse Transhumanism then we will eventually fall behind as our intellect will be immensely surpassed by technology, thus making us the servants of our creations" (Transcendent man). What Kurzweil means by "technology will eventually achieve singularity" is that eventually an artificial intelligence or A.I. will have a conscious such as a human does. A perfect example can be taken from the movie "I, Robot" which the robot thinks for it self and basically is aware of its surroundings.
