Aboriginal Spirituality

I have chosen the dog as my guardian spirit. Dogs and humans have always had a significant connection. They symbolize loyalty, reliability, friendship, guidance, assistance, intelligence, forgiveness and a general love of life. I admire all of the qualities that dogs possess. I have my own dog and I work at an animal clinic, so I spend a lot of time with many different dogs. They are very important to human lives, as they have been proven to improve both our physical and emotional health. I don't think that we, humans, always value these important qualities as much as we should. Art is a big part of my life and has been for a long time. Instead of blending a photo of a dog with a photo representing art, I decided to draw what I thought best represented my guardian spirit. The drawing I did shows a German Shepherd with a police officer. German Shepherds are the typical "guard dog" because they are alert, obedient, loyal, courageous, and intelligent. They are known to protect and obey their owners. German Shepherds also work as service dogs, which is another way this specific breed assists humans. .
             My Dream.
I started having a recurring dream when I was about 4 or. The dream included me losing balance and falling off of a railing. I would never fall to the ground, because the ground kept dropping. I would just keep falling until I woke up. Falling in a dream often symbolizes a lack of stability, security, support, or feeling safe. Falling in dreams really means having lost control with some sort of situation in our life. Specifically, Dreams of losing balance suggest that the problem has to do with how you are feeling, not having to do with someone else. These dreams can mean that you are not fully stable and need grounding in your life. For me, this meant finding a way to become more confident and less shy. My lack of confidence was a very big problem for me at the time, but after working at it, I'm much less shy and I can say I'm happier with myself.
