Racial Prejudice and Crime

Dunn would be charged with first-degree murder. .
One would think that that all the facts are there and the conviction would come easy. Dunn would be found guilty of three counts of second-degree attempted murder and could face up to sixty years in prison. This conviction stems from Dunn shooting at the other three victims that were inside the Durango that were unharmed. As for the charge of first-degree murder the jury, "said it could not agree on whether Mr. Dunn had acted to protect himself or was guilty of murder," therefore a hung jury and a mistrial was declared on the count of first-degree murder (Alverez).

This law only requirement is that the person needs to be convinced that he or she believes that they are being threatened or in danger of their life. Davis' family is working hard to try and change these laws in Florida.

He became enraged because Davis turned the music back up despite Dunn's request to turn it down and he repeatedly cursed at Dunn. He referred to the young man as a local thug (Dunn). After the shooting occurred Dunn proceeded to drive away and continue on with the day like nothing happened, checked in to a room, even ordered pizza but did not call the police (qtd.
