Insights - Brave New World

The movie "Brave New World" took place in A. 632, around seven centuries after the twentieth century. A.F. means the year of Ford who was a famous inventor the vehicles now named "Ford" after his original name, Henry Ford. In this movie, it was shown that the main objective of the leaders was to maintain stability in the society. Five different groups of peoples were shown in the movie, the Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons. Basically, the Alphas were the leader of the system of the society together with the Betas. The two of them work as the politicians, scientists, administrators, thinkers and other leading occupations. On the other hand, the Gammas, Epsilons and Deltas are in the middle and bottom classes, they represent the low-working class. The government leads & assures the stability of the society through making of five-layered position structure as mentioned above. Basically, in this movie there is a fine line between the upper class and the lower class. Since the very goal of the "government" is to have stability, it also aims for the stability of its people. It came up with the idea of having a drug that will stabilize people's feelings and thinking towards things. The drug is called "soma", upon application of this medication or drug rather, one will not then feel any pain or unhappiness. The drug ensures every individual a happy life. A drug called soma assures that no one ever feels annoyance or stays irritated, and people from every position get extents of the medicine. Pre-and post-natal intake further ensures government disability.
In some parts of the movie, it was shown that some of the people felt a feeling of dissatisfaction. Some people were wondering what they were made for or whether their life has a meaning or not. Through this, I can say that if we want to open our eyes to learning the meaning of our lives, first we must be able to understand and distinguish what are the good times and bad times in our lives and what do we feel about it.
