Who Are The Poor?

They include; .
             1) Those not able to work because they are too young, too old, disabled, or have some sort of social responsibility. 2) Someone who is able and qualified to work but cannot find a job. 3) Those that are uneducated and not trained to do a job. 4) Maybe some sort of personal or social problems has brought them to a point of discouragement. 5) Underemployment, low wages, etc. .
The poor are whoever cannot or will not work, men and women with fewer skills, little schooling, and hardly any motivation to reach for something higher. Everyone does not have the same physical capabilities and mental abilities. Poor health and abilities prevent many people from holding onto their jobs. People with higher education will get paid a higher income, and people with lower education will get paid a lower income and for many of the poor in America that means living paycheck to paycheck. In more cases than not many people find themselves without any income and unable to support themselves or their family. I believe a very important factor in being poor in America is inequality. Poor people are often looked upon for the state that they are in rather than how did they get there and how can they be helped out. Although programs like; food stamps, housing assistance, social security have been established to help the poor, these programs are not enough to eliminate the problem.
As I stated before inequality plays an enormous part in determining who is poor. Race and gender are great factors in the course of being poor: minorities are disproportionately poor: about 27 percent of African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans are poor, versus 10 percent of whites. At the same time, whites make up the largest number among the poor. This a astonishing fact that needs to be emphasized, since practices to raise income and provide jobs will benefit more whites than minorities. Ignoring race and even gender is not an option, .
