Ishmael Beah and Poverty

One may be living without food, water and many home supplies needed and they strive to live every single day. Poverty is a common social issue that provides many people without food, fresh water and money, and while nations like Canada have worked really hard to get rid of it domestically it still exists around the world. Government from a higher country who has the money should give in their efforts to help support countries in poverty. Poverty is a stoppable social issue, but yet no one has been able to stop it. .
Ishmael Beah was born in Sierra Leone in 1980. When Ishmael was 12 years old a civil war arose in his country. A team called the rebels started to attack every village in his country killing many people. Ishmael was able to escape for quite some time but eventually the rebels caught him and forced him into being a boy soldier. During his time trying to escape from the rebels, he along with the rest of his country was in poverty; they had no food, no water and no money. His mother could not even afford to send him to school (Beah). .
One thing that happens when poverty is happening in ones country is that people have to get their own water, they do not have their water in fridges like us in Canada. In Ishmael's biography it states, "their evening chores were fetching water and cleaning lamps" (Beah). People in poverty tend to not have water right at there finger tips they have to travel a long distance to get their water. Even then the water that they get it sometimes not enough to keep them living and hydrated. Poor people have less access to health (Causes of Poverty). Water is not given to people they need to be able to get it, and even then this water may not be healthy and is just killing the people faster. .
There is no doubt that poverty also causes hunger. In Ishmael's biography it states, that Ishmael and his friends were walking through the villages, and they realized they had no money so they got their food from banana, coconut and orange trees (Beah).
