By the Pricking of My Thumbs

"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes" (Act 4, scene1, L44-45). These words are used to describe Macbeth, but is Macbeth truly wicked? Or are his actions ultimately influenced by the words and actions of other characters? In all honesty, Macbeth is not a vicious or evil person. His actions are influenced by the words and actions of others characters such as what a character may say or what actions they may perform that can possibly provoke Macbeth. An example of this is at the start of the book, where Macbeth is a brave, loyal noblemen for Scotland, as stated by King Duncan until he went face to face with evil. Also, Macbeth is very indecisive as he cannot follow through with his own decisions and opinions. Lastly, the desire and thirst for power overtook Macbeth's mind as he completely forgot about the loyal and brave side of himself.  .
Before Macbeth got influenced by the witches and the people he cares the most about, Macbeth was a noblemen that every king would want; he is brave, loyal, devoted and trustworthy. Macbeth fought for Scotland in the war, as he mercilessly slayed Macdonwald, a noble fighter for the enemy, which led to Macbeth earning the title of Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth received this title because Duncan truly appreciates Macbeth's effort and he sees Macbeth as a close friend. The quote " For brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name disdaining fortune, with his brandish'd steel. upon our battlements" (Act 1, S2, L10-25) shows that Macbeth is a brave fighter because the soldier who said this quote told Duncan that Macbeth had slain one of the most important fighters in the enemy's army, which led to a victory for Scotland. During this period of time, Macbeth was able to make decisions without any problems because there was no one around to affect his decisions. Furthermore, Macbeth was terrified by the witches' prophecies as one of the prophecies is legitimate, while the other ones were to be determined.
