Jack Carson and WWII


            Thematically, good will conquer evil, as Jack Carson's actions symbolically represent the United States and the Allied powers as he battles the the evil Colonel Helmut Von Toth, who represents Adolf Hitler and the Axis powers as a reflection of the events of World War II. Throughout Daniel Reed's novel, Deliver Us From Evil, Jack Carson is determined to end the evil surrounding the madman Von Toth. As characterized, Jack Carson, is a hero for his family and his country. As characterized, Georg Joins forces with the American as he realizes Von Toth's evil plan must be stopped. .
             Two American soldiers Vince Boe and Aaron Radmanovich escorted their German POW work crew to the Segundo Mines. A German, Nazi Colonel Helmut Von Toth wants to return home to Germany. He knew English which made him appear to be American. It was all part of his evil plan, by convincing Radmanovich to take a detour t the Carson's ranch. Von Toth attacked Boe, and Straub attacked Radmanovich, both Americans died. They put on the American uniforms and headed to the Carson's ranch. Jack Carson and his son Wade, and four other friends were bear hunting. Von Toth and the other Nazis arrive at the Carson's ranch, Cassie and Josh Carson are at the ranch with their caretakers, Joe and Hilda Koivunen. Von Toth shoots and kills Joe and Hilda and forces Josh and Cassie to guide the Nazis to Mexico. Jack, Wade and the hunters get ambushed by Straut and other POWs when they arrive home. The ambush did not work as Von Toth wanted it too. Jack and Wade survive but Donny was injured and the rest died. Jack is determined to hunt and end the evil Von Toth and get his children back. Straub, the surviving POW from the ambush gets to Von Toth and tells him Jack is alive. Straub is Von Toth's best friend but in Von Toth's eye he was no use for him, so Von Toth kills him.
