Affording My Police Officer Education

When I was young I always found myself playing cops and robbers. I just happen to love being the cop when we played. I always looked up to the Atlanta police department and wanted to be just like them. I started off helping people solve mysteries that they had trouble with. Then my mind started developing more, processing, and putting things together. When I was eight years old I talked to some Atlanta police officers. They told me I was one of the brightest and smartest kids they had ever seen. They ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and of course I said a cop. These cops told me to stay in school, stay out of trouble, and I will live my dream. I knew it would take patience and time to get where I'm trying to go. After completing various calculations, it was obvious that the return on my financial investment would be enormous and the effects of that investments would change my life and the lives of others.
If I worked at my future job as police officer for thirty years, I would make $1,568,040.I would work about 2090.72 hours and make $25 an hour. My salary for that year would equal $52,268. If I planned my college schedule carefully, I could work part time when I was in school for six years at GPTC and Morehouse College, so I would lose money for that time. I would not also be able to work when I entered the academy, thus losing more money because I would be not able to work even part time. When I graduate from GPTC and Morehouse College, I would start patrolling for Atlanta or DeKalb county police. I would work there for 3 years before putting in for promotion. If I made $52,268, I would make $65,675 at the next level. Then in 5-7 years I would reach the final level of promotion. I would make $1,202,164 if I worked there for 23 more years. Police officers can retire after thirty years and receive good retirement benefits. To find the earnings over a thirty year policing career, I would add the sum of each salary level.
