(Archer, 1995) The debate on structure and agency is 'How much are you made? How much can you make yourself?' or more simply 'What is the relationship between society and an individual' (Morris, 2011) Subjectivity is another view that underlies identity. It is the plural of the multiple, identity. (Mansfield, 2000) There are two meanings for subjectiveness, it can be "the origin of action, feelings and experiences that we collect together and report as our lives" (Mansfield, 2000) this is saying that the subject controls the action and includes the notion of Agency. The second can be a subject to or of "Politico-legal subject" (Mansfield, 2000) is a way of Power and dominance, and this brings the notions of Agency- being an I- and Structure- Society- together. Another point to make is that identities are made up of different social groups- where you fit in society- the main ones are class, gender, ethnicity and nationality. These all combine and come together to form behaviours for how and why a person acts in different situations that an individual may face. (Morris, 2011) .
According to the theorist Pierre Bourdieu, for the reasons why individuals do things and identity in a society, comprises of three concepts: Habitus, Field and Capital; that answer for a society, the way and why people collectively and individually do things. His answer for 'why people do what they do' is "practice is not a mechanical reaction, directly determined by the originator conditions," (Bourdieu, 1977) "neither are people rational actors, "fully conscious of [their] motivations" and "action is not a product of an intentional consciousness, an explicit project, intention oriented toward explicitly stated goal." but then says "action is the product of practical knowledge 'A feel for the game'." (Bourdieu, 1999) .
