Campus Safety at Claflin University

Another spot which needs lightening and cameras is behind the boy's dorm High Rise, the path to the gym is very dark and they should cut down the trees in the area. Nobody wants to walk that way at night because they are afraid of being snatched in a ditch. Claflin University's security officers should be able to identify areas around the campus that do not have good lighting. While talking to one of the campus security officers on Claflin campus, the criminal rates dealing with burglary are 0.6%. Mrs. Jackson who is a female security officer states that if the campus provided more lighting in the areas near student and teaching parking that none of these events would have taken place. She also said that the campus has decided to invest in more cameras to put around the campus dorms. Another bad area that needs lighting is all of the campus showers at night. Nobody wants to take a shower in the dark. The campus should provide a better lighting system in all of the old dorms. .
             Claflin University security officers should check the identification card of anyone coming on campus. They should check everyone from the teachers to each of the students. An event that took place on campus was the Kabaris Davis case. He is the young man that broke into all the girls dorm. That should have been an eye-opener for the entire university. Whenever someone comes on campus or through the state gate Claflin security should be aware. They should ask each person to show them their student id or some type of identification card. Since the security is never near the state gate anything can happen to someone. For instance, another crazy man could come on campus and break into the dorm if they see no one is watching the gate. The campus needs way more cameras. Each dorm should at least have a camera three campus including one on each of the floors. A huge problem on the campus is that at night they should hire officers who stay up and not fall asleep.
