I thought that it was well written and really simple to understand. The first sentence of the story is already captivating and the readers become really curious as to why the grandfather is saying this to the grandson. The relationship between the grandson and the grandfather was really well described. It may not be the perfect relationship but we could still feel the love they had for each other deep inside of them and their funny way of showing it. Normally it is hard to appreciate the characters or get attach to them really easily but in this story, that was not a problem at all. Simply from the first paragraph, we get attach to this stubborn and crazy grandfather. He represents the ultimate fanatic of Lenin and overall the idea of how much it was a big deal to promote communism to others. It was not the typical type of story about war and the crazy ideas of the past. We see that more and more the grandson grows closer to his crazy but captivating grandfather. Normally, when reading stories by foreign writers, I don`t completely connect to the story or the events. Even if Penkov`s story is foreign to me, I never felt lost or that a key element was missing or a certain cultural reference, but at the same time, I did not feel like I was reading a history text, either. So it is possible to say that there is great balance in this story. I think that Penkov is the type of author who understands what the readers need, and who doesn`t fail to give it to them. I found it really funny that the grandson is buying Lenin on EBay. That is most probably the weirdest and the most disturbing thing to do. Even more funnier is that fact the he buys Lenin`s body for like ten bucks which is kind of pathetic because you would expect someone to buy it for more and also expect someone to sell it for more than just 1.99 $. He may not be the most appreciated person but he was still a big person in the history.
